The setting is targeted on California Fitness Center in Taiwan, one of the largest fitness chains in the world. The study is examined with the analysis of literature review, observation, and in-depth interview. Findings reveal that the consumers’ fitness values, body images, sport behavior modes and the condition of sport have experienced entire and great revolution because of the influence of the global fitness consumer culture. The American fitness lifestyle has been introduced to Taiwan and shaped. Besides, the fitness Disneyland established by Levine has obviously become a tool for profit. Finally, based on the belief of “personal is political,” it is suggested that we reflect on our body so as to make body Life politics possible. Abstract
This study is aimed to explore the lifestyle of recreational fitness from a cultural perspective.
