Summary:碩士 === 臺東師範學院 === 兒童文學研究所 === 91 === Summary The emphasis on children''s reading activities have been blossoming in most countries in the world. The Department of Culture(?) has declared the year of 2000 as the National Year of Children''s Reading. Especially, the teachers at the elementary level have been greatly involved with children''s reading activities. Most researches in children''s reading in Taiwan have been focusing on special needs or remedial reading curricula for children. In this paper the author tries to focus on the working journal and results of the elementary teachers who are working on children''s reading activities. In specific, it presents the dynamics of the relationship between the elementary teachers involving with children and children''s reading activities. In addition, the paper investigates the cognitive development of elementary teachers'' involvement in children and children''s reading activities. The paper contains five chapters. First chapter describes backgrounds, purpose, limits and methodology of this research study. Chapter two is the literature review which contains the cognitive development of young children, the reading principles and various developed activities of children''s reading. Chapter three presents working journals of all various children''s reading activities or curricula. Chapter four describes all various activities and/or curricula of children''s reading such as classroom reading and the products and process of these activities. The last chapter is conclusion and recommendations. Key Words: cognitive development of young children, reading principle, children''s reading activities and curricula
