Direct determination of all the interactions between the whole human genes is still difficult even with current large-scale protein interaction detection methods. Protein interactions are well-characterized for several organisms such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae due to the detection methods in proteomics technology. We proposed a method to predict human protein-protein interactions using the concept of homologous mapping by BLASTP from yeast to human. In a word, an interaction is inferred between two candidate proteins Hs1 and Hs2 if two proteins Yst1 and Yst2 are respectively homologous with Hs1 and Hs2 and were previously described by DIP as interacting partners. In order to help biologists we have developed POINT, a web based server. Using an integrative database, POINT derives potential human protein-protein interactions by combining the microarray data of the cell cycle and gene ontology. We believe that POINT will assist many biochemical studies. The POINT database is available at http://insilicogenomics.nhri.org.tw/point/. Cheng-Yan Kao 高成炎 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 51 zh-TW
