The system accesses the B-rep data of a solid model based on STEP AP203/214 file format to recognize features. Feature-based CAD system is the tide of part design method currently. The system represents feature with feature profile and feature path, such as linear path and circular path. Differing from the feature recognition systems those represent the part by cutting contour, this thesis emphasizes on the part model using protrusions or pocket contours which are most used during the design phase in feature-based CAD system. Besides the general features, this research also aims at recognizing the transition features, including edge rounded and fillet.
