In illumination system, it is composed of the light source and some optical components. A luminous flux from a light source enters into a series of optical components and the light value. Finally, it projects on the screen via imaging system and we can obtain the image. Light source is an important part of the projection display. It provides steady luminous flux for projection display. In other words, the whole design of optical path is that let luminous flux can pass through projection display smoothly, and the properties of light source must influence the quality of projection display greatly. This paper presents that we replace Light Emitting Diode (LED) with the light source of general projection display, and design a new optical structure. Then we compare a new display screen with general display screen. Besides, we analyze the brightness and the uniformity both. The result from the simulations, we can achieve that the efficiency of LED type projection system is higher 15~20% than the tradition type projection system. In the future, this will let LED instead of the bulbs, and it will be developed
