Via this study, the data base of angle steel rolling can be obtained and it with be the reference of caliber design. In this complex analytical model combine the accuracy of 3D rigid-plastic finite element method and the simplicity of slab method, the concept of element division of slab method is introduced to reduce the computational time of computer significantly. The deformation zone in the billet is divided into several proper slabs according to the shapes of boundaries between the billet and roll, in which each slab must match the force equilibrium along the longitudinal direction then, calculate field of stress and strain through finite element method. From the comparison of rolling force, spread, vertical stress and equivalent strain rate of this analytical model and 3D rigid-plastic finite element method in square to diamond and round to oval caliber rolling, we can prove this model is able to be applied to caliber rolling analysis. How to design roll caliber and rolling pass is an important target in rolling process. Using this complex analytical model, we can simulate the deformation behavior of angle steel rolling and obtain the information of energy consumption, area reduction and equivalent strain rate, then it can be provided for caliber design and pass schedule design.
