The total samples are consists of twelve hundred students from six schools were investigated with questionnaires. Effective samples are nine hundred and eighty-seven. The conclusions of the study are as follows, 1.The students of science universities have strong wish to pursue a higher degree after graduating. The most of the educational background they want to get is at less a master''s degree. The attitude toward education of the students and their parents influence the decision of entering a higher school greatly. But students themselves are the key men deciding to obtain a higher degree or get a job. 2.The students are not very interested in what they major in, and have no confident of the skills that they learn. They believe that undergraduate’s opportunities of getting a job are lesser than graduates’. Most students plan to pursue a higher degree when they entered the junior year. 3.Good salaries, working environment and promotion are the main factors the students consider when they choose a job. The study makes suggestions as follows, 1.Students should make use of the resources of schools actively, and have proper concept of advanced study and getting a job. The students who would like to enter graduate school should estimate their abilities first. They could get a job accumulating experience first if they are not suitable to enter graduate school, and then hane advanced study later. The students would like to get a job should estimate that their abilities is qualified to the field of occupation. 2.Parents should have proper educational expectations and attitude. 3.School guidance personnel should give freshmen tests in aptitude and interest, and investigate the juniors’ willingness of entering a graduate school and get a job. Besides, they should publish a handbook of advanced study and career planning and hold related speeches and fairs. 4. Follow-up study could extend its object of compare study to graduated students and comprehensive university students and the students of science & technology institutes. 林寶山 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 114 zh-TW
