According to their job functions, theater technicians are further categorized into two groups — managing technicians and service technicians. Chapter two is the History of the Theater Technology in Taiwan. The theater technology in Taiwan has been influenced by outer cultures. Besides Chinese opera troupes, Japanese culture also had great effect on the theater technology in Taiwan especially during Japanese colonization from 1895 to 1945. After 1945, the European and America theater technology began to import into Taiwan, and gradually replace the Japanese influence. Chapter three deals with the technicians’ organization in Taiwan. The technicians’ organizations are classified into two kinds. One is job organization including companies, technical workrooms, performing groups, performing places and free-lancers. The other is association organization like the Chinese Association of Theater Technicians. Chapter four tackles the technicians’ training in Taiwan. The author focuses on formal school education and training programs. The last Chapter discusses the problems and suggestion. The problems that technicians meet in their theater career in Taiwan are presents and analyzed. Although the technicians’ organization and training in Taiwan have been improved gradually, there are still problems in the theater career.
