The most distinctive feature of the GPT is the tour leader, however, despite the importance of tour leader in GPT, there is a lack of empirical support regarding the tour leader’s risks in GPT. Although early and recent risk studies provided useful information, they did not examine the specific issues addressed in our research. Consequently, the specific purposes of the study were to: extend the limited research on the tour leader’s risks in GPT; and to explore the inherent risks in GPT leader. Our research employed in-depth interview method to collect research data. In total, 28 respondents (24 GPT leaders, 2 travel experts, and 2 scholars of travel) were participated in the in-depth interviews. The average time of in-depth interview was 88.75 minutes. Member checking was also conducted to verify the trustworthiness of the interview data. Content analysis was employed to analysis the interview data. Totally 169 categories were emerged. The judge A and B’s intrajudge reliability were .996. Judge C’s interjudge reliability was .993, no new categories emerged. The categorization process can be regarded as reliable. In addition, no new categories emerged in the confirmation process, indicating that no further interview was necessary. Therefore 169 categories are formulated as the grounded model of the inherent risks in GPT leader. This study enables the researcher to explore and understand the meaning behind such general concepts of the inherent risks in GPT leader. The grounded model of the inherent risks in GPT leader implies certain extensions to GPT in tourist risk research. The research findings have abundant implications for practitioners as well as academics. WANG, KUO-CHING 王國欽 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 106 zh-TW
