His innate character produced many novels in an initial work. Kenzaburo Oe wrote many essays at concurrently with his novels. His essays serve to explain his novels. Therefore one should not pursue the subject of the Oe literature based solely his novels. The writer’s one-side message needs to be taken on fair. It is important to see the work in order to form an objective opinion and to fully comprehend the work. By what technique does Kenzaburo Oe begin to create a rich and fresh image? The key is in participation in the novel by the writer as exemplified by Jun Etou. As in many other famous novels the writer’s own life experiences form an aspect of each character and the narrator of the novel. The following is a description of how <eventide> is made into an axis. An initial work of Kenzaburo Oe is best seen from the viewpoint of a description. It is understood that <eventide> in which the scene or time is indicated in the work is frequently described. For instance, <eventide> usually describe a scene of "Village in the valley" the hometown of Kenzaburo Oe. <eventide> leads the entire flow of the story to the short story 'Pigeon'. This becomes one clue how Kenzaburo Oe writes. Then, this thesis pays attention to the description of < eventide > in an initial work. The location was seen throughout the entire work. As a result, it clarified the meaning and the role of <eventide> in each work. <eventide> became clear and at the same time the subject of other works of such as "Death and life", "War", and "Sex", etc. with which was a deeply connection.
