One of these pronunciation processes is not completed, abnormal speech will happen. The person with speech disabilities whose pronunciation usually can not be understood clearly by the people. We developed a portable speech recognition trainer to improve the pronunciation of the persons with speech disabilities. Speech recognition technology is adopted in the process of design. The pronunciation of the user with speech disability is recorded as the standard pronunciation with the help of speech teacher in the training process. Another pronunciation of the user is also recorded and analyzed to compare with the standard pronunciation when the user practice pronunciation alone, the speech recognition trainer will feedback the mark(between 0 and 100) on the LCD screen to represent the similarity of pronunciations between training and practicing process for the user’s reference. The user with speech disability can continuously practice pronunciation alone at home by using the device which can correct pronunciation and guide the pronunciation training. The speech teacher’s teaching time will be reduced and the user’s practice will not be interrupted or paused if we can utilized the device well.
