Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 建築與都市設計研究所 === 91 === The Chinese Scholar’s Garden is conventionally supposed to be a concrete substance of the Taoist philosophy. Whereas how could the Taoist natural insights be represented and implemented? Alternatively, as time went on, has it been deviated from the original essence of Taoist naturalism? This research underpins upon the intellectual thinking of natural recurrence and enthusiasm of Taoist naturalism. Firstly, the natural insights of Taoist philosophy and the representation of Chinese artistic works, especially of poem and painting, that were primarily influenced by Taoist naturalism and, in turn, affected the implementation of the Chinese Scholar’s Garden, are examined thorough literature review. By doing literature review as stated above, to what extent the Chinese Scholar’s garden has been influenced by Taoist philosophy could be then clarified, and to what extent the essence of the Chinese art has been driven by Taoist philosophy which is characterized as natural symbolism. The reference of literature review is seen as the framework of this research. Secondly, carried out by field works, the analysis of naturalism of Wangshi-Yuan underlies the pragmatic research of the implementation of Taoist philosophy of nature in the Chinese Scholar’s Garden. Finally, the natural connotation and implementation in the Chinese Scholar’s Garden could be therefore understood clearly. The complete of this research suggests that the representation of the Chinese Scholar’s Garden mainly relies upon rather subjectively imaginary allusion and metaphysical interpretation than objectively tangible material concerns. In this sense, the stereotypical understanding that the Chinese Scholar’s Garden is a concrete substance of Taoist naturalism needs to be re-interpreted. However, the Taoist wisdom nature still stands on the inspiration of natural rule and, by which, will continue to contribute to human being’s concerns. Such insight into nature, from the point of view of the research finding, is worthy being reconsidered and being made use in contemporary environmental design discipline. Particularly, in facing of the environmental decay and ecological concerns, it seems that the Taoist naturalism with its philosophical significance needs to be put more efforts on its meaningful apocalypse and deeply further investigation.
