The major characteristic of the sensor use ellipsoidal structure as upper electrode seated on a substrate with dielectric constant greater than 1. Backside of the substrate is ground plane or lower electrode. The SMA terminal connects the electrodes as output by impedance matching microstrip. The improved sensitivity is due to the raising of dielectric constant of substrate. Comparing with typical sphere sensor, volume of the proposed sensor is reduced a lot and sensitivity improved.
