It is estimated that computer users spend 2/3 time in average on using mice in contrast with the total time on using computers, according to scientific reports. This phenomenon has made mice to be the most popular and wide-spread computer input devices, apart from computer keyboards. However, using mice in an inappropriate manner and/or using poorly designed mice may cause serious muscle or bone structure injuries in palms, referring to medical discoveries. To minimize the possibility of those unexpected injuries, the primary concern of mice design has to take the habit and palm features of users into serious account from the perspective of ergonomic design. In viewing the importance of ergonomic design in mice design, this study intends to analyze the general habits of mice users through the methodology of behavior observation with the expectation to build a Mice Ergonomic Database as a valuable reference for mice design in the future. In general, data drawn for this database is from the 2nd grade, 4th grade, 6th grade of primary school and the 2nd grade of junior high school, as well as the 1st and 3rd grade of senior high school students. Methods for data collection include palm scanning and random sampling based on mice ergonomic index. Data categories include palm size change along with growth, relations between palm size and age levels and the palm curve change for mice holding with age levels.
