In other words, our society has changed from a material-based world into an early stage of digital-based and virtual-based era. During the course of action for transitional change from material transport to digital transport, the most significant influence to our daily lives is the rapid development of the Internet and the equipments with ubiquitous computation. Through the Internet, there is no need to leave home to take care of personal affairs or business. Meanwhile, the development of mobile phone, notebook computer, PDA, etc. have made people acquire more freedom of action with respect to activities and movements in urban areas. Through the assistance of these new invented tools, people can access and carry the information in person anytime, and each individual becomes a portable computer in the metropolitan area. On the other hand, new metropolitan lives tend to gradually become acting 24 hours a day without intermissions; therefore, the requirement of spatial functions has become more complicated and versatile than it has been required before. Although transportation tools can rapidly convey people back and forth to different locations, more and more time is consumed during the transit and transportation.The transition and the wait caused by carrying information, transporting freely, and changing space continuously make many indoor-mechanism facilities to be relocated to outdoors environment. Therefore, during the course of action of continuously transporting in urban area, there are more spaces and facilities to become available in response to this phenomenon. In this research, we use the concept of courier station to re-scrutinize both public service facilities and systems that are located in metropolitan transitional space. And, we expect that the wait and stay space located in conventional metropolitan area can be changed into outdoor courier station of accessing intellectual information for metropolitan residents. In this research, communications and transportation, urban environmental protection, and composite usage of spaces are to be selected as our three subjects in terms of the direction of design and operation. It is our expectation that the prosperity of Taiwan’s manufacturing industry can be developed into an industrialized and modularized society of tectonic fashion. Based on the usage from different ethnics/groups, various usage requirement designs are proposed with respect to street/furniture, bus station, and parking lot in designing traffic transportation system. The design of urban environmental protection is aimed to resolve garbage pollution problem after collection. In addition, the introducing of functions of furniture repair and the sell/purchase of old merchandise into the current garbage treatment facilities can make them available of having characteristics of modern courier station in terms of trading/purchasing products. System design of composite usage of spaces is to investigate the possibility of sharing multiple function of urban service facilities. By using the method of compact space, a small and overpopulated urban area can be developed into a place with maximized efficiency in usage. Finally, taking the station architecture of Muh-jah mass rapid transportation line as an example, by installing various kinds of usage function in its space, it becomes a main node area of service facilities. Furthermore, it provides people with a place where they can obtain and use metropolitan information more rapidly and conveniently during the course of action of transportation.
