碩士 === 淡江大學 === 建築學系 === 91 === We often describe a place as of nice aura, or of a unique taste and atmosphere. However, what is aura? What is aroma? This study focuses on the explanation and investigation of aura. The goal of the study is to explore the composition of aura and the way in which aura is formed. Aura, in fact, varies from minute to minute. Therefore, to understand the essentials of aura is further more important than to understand how aura is preserved and why aura is changed. Aura is fairly difficult to describe though, it presents and filled in every environment in the subtlest form. Thus, it is hard to describe and comprehend aura concretely, which has not been done so thus far. Oftentimes something that we treasure, valuable and untouchable, changes in a transient and vanishes in the environment and society. Tamsui, which is the focus of this study, is a typical example. Most of the tourists, in fact, visit Tamsui in the search of the fairly tales they once owned and experienced. Nevertheless, under the great invasion of commercial activities, people merely come to this strange place named Tamsui and, based on their visions, try to imagine what they long for, the disappeared aura. This study includes: 1) the use of art creation to present a recording and representing device; the use of events and activities under the original concept of creation to reconstruct memory; 2) the use of image creation in the view of multimedia to generate a number of discussions regarding introspection and feedbacks; 3) the use of the environmental devices to provide with several processed data of the macro-environment, as well as the utilization of environment simulation to help achieve physical experience; and 4) furthermore the use of the interface based on physical experience which is developed through the already interpreted aura to create an individual experience device. Hence, the study bridges a bi-direction relationship between aura and people by letting people understand and realize the fact of aura, and taking the understanding of aura after experience to convey an action to the viewer through a personal translation.
