We utilize the matched Manpower Utilization Survey conducted by Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics and apply the probit model to analyze the retirement decisions of workers employed in public and private sectors respectively.
The empirical results show that the regulations of public-sector retirement scheme on retirement age and tenure have significant effect on retirement decision for workers employed in public sector. However, the incentive effect of relevant regulations contained in private-sector retirement scheme is much weaker in private sector.
