According to these points, we provide our suggestions. In addition to literature review, our data comes from interviews with scholars and questionnaires answered by them. After analyzing the data, we reached the following conclusion: A.The visual arts curriculum at elementary schools should be learner-centered, discipline-based, and community- centered. B.The ideals of designing visual arts curriculum at elementary schools are 1.clarifying the goals of arts education 2.in accordance with the aims of arts education 3.conducting the learning of multiple visual arts through general education 4.deciding what should be acquired through visual arts education 5.in accordance with the students’ needs and competence 6.conducted by the teachers with the help of their own practical experiences of art creation and knowledge of art history 7.school-based 8.combining the cultural background with current trend of art C.Basic knowledge that should be acquired through visual arts curriculum at elementary schools is also discussed in this research. Moreover, the suggestions on the fifteen key points of designing visual arts curriculum at elementary schools and the leaning points of third-graders’ painting courses are provided.
