Subjects were recruited voluntarily from Taiwan Electrical Power Women Basketball Team to evaluate their glucose metabolism condition by oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) during different training phases. After 20 days detraining, we measured relative physiological values in four time points, including before training (pre), post-acute training immediately, post-one month training, and post-intact competition season. Our result showed that the effect of acute training is significantly higher than value in fasting blood glucose concentration, but both were within normal range; however, after orally 75 g glucose given, the values of 30 min and 80 min both significantly higher in acute effect of training than pretest value. After one month training, the performance of OGTT was better in post-training than pretest, and post-training values reached significant difference in 50 min and 80 min. There was no difference in fasting blood glucose level and OGTT performance between post-competition season and pretest; however, CK value was significantly higher in post-competition. Vigorous competition is the potential role in causing much higher CK value; moreover, acute muscular injury might reduce the training-benefit effect on improving insulin sensitivity. In conclusion, after 20 days detraining, there was no harmful effect of muscular injury on glucose tolerance; however, CK value keeping increasing after ompetition-season had been shown that overloading intensive competition would reduce the positive effect of routine training. This study confirmed that basketball training is able to improve glucose uptake ability in women basketball players. HUO,CHIA-HUA PH.D 郭家驊 2003 學位論文 ; thesis 56 zh-TW
