Description
Summary:碩士 === 大同大學 === 通訊工程研究所 === 91 === A 5GHz Frequency Synthesizer is designed for use in the lower band of a HIPERLAN (High-Performance radio LAN) receiver. The synthesizer consists of a phase locked loop that controls an LC tank voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) tuned at 5GHz. A tracking injection-locked frequency divider (ILFD) [1] as the first frequency divider in the PLL feedback can reduce the power consumption. The simulation results present total power consumption is 37.98mW. The power consumption of the VCO and ILFD is only 11.48mW. The phase noises are —129.3dBc/Hz at 10MHz and —137.3dBc/Hz at 20MHz offset. With VCO and ILFD supplied by 2.0V and other portions of the synthesizer supplied by 2.5V, we then have a larger tuning range, from 4.38GHz to 5.17GHz. The gain of VCO is 379.5MHz/V. The complete Frequency Synthesizer is fabricated in TSMC 0.25μm CMOS 1P5M process to verity the design.
