For it can support higher rate data transmission and higher spectral efficiency. In this thesis, we consider a MC-CDMA uplink system which conveys over a MIMO multipath fading channel and employs space-time coding technique at the transmitter and antenna diversity at the receiver. The channel estimation of MC-CDMA uplink system can be viewed as a problem to estimate the delay frequencies and attenuation amplitude of sinusoidal components embedded in white noise. First, we apply a high-resolution algorithm called the Modified Forward-Backward Linear Prediction (MFBLP) to estimate delay frequencies, and then exploit least square (LS) method to obtain attenuation amplitude estimates. For the multiuser case, the performance of the single user maximum ratio combining (MRC) detector is limited by multiple access interference (MAI). Therefore the MC-CDMA receiver with serial/parallel interference cancellation (IC) mechanism is proposed, and usually implemented in multiple-stage architecture. The basic principle of this receiver is regenerating the separate estimates of the MAI contributed by each user in order to subtract out partial or all of the MAI terms from the desired users signal. Performance of multistage multiuser detector with interference cancellation is investigated by computer simulation for three different kinds of MIMO uplink MC-CDMA system.
