The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between learning and interpersonal relationship as well as learning and life satisfaction among older adults. Based on the results of this study, recommendations were provided to related organizations in planning older adult education. This study was done with questionnaires by surveying older adults in Jia-yi city and Jia-yi county. 450 questionnaires were sent out, and 435 were returned with a return rate of 96.67%. The total number of valid questionnaire was 430. The conclusions of this study were: 1.The interpersonal relationship of older adults who participated in learning was better than those who didn’t. 2.The life satisfaction of older adults who participated in learning was higher than those who didn’t. 3.The need of participating in learning was confirmed and received by older adults. 4.The reason that most older adults thought why they needed to learn was “to make friends”; the reason that most older adults think why they didn’t need to learn was “learning is useless when you are old.” 5.The reason why older adults did not participate in learning was primarily due to “do not have time.” 6.The most popular organizations where older adults took part in learning were “evergreen associations of villages and towns.” 7.“Education background” and “health condition” were the factors which influenced the learning participation of older adults. 8.“Health condition” was a factor that affected older adults interpersonal relationship. 9.Life satisfaction of older adult was related to the demographic characteristics of older adults. According to the results of this study, recommendations were made regarding (1) governmental organizations,(2) related institutions of older adults, and(3) older adults.
