Unfortunately, elderly generations who need most of care were unable to have the benefit because of the discouragement of use. For instance, even though the powerful devise it is, many of elder users are still unable to use the basic function of mobile phone. There were evidences that operational misusability of elder user was not only cause of physiological performance but also more concerned with the cognitive misunderstanding. We suppose that the discouragement of use might result from the mismatch between the operation model of mobile phone and the uses model of elder. The purpose of this study was to understand the reasons of cognitive discouragement based on the research of mental model, and the results was to provide a practical design work that is more appropriate for elder users. The experimental procedure in this study was constructed by concurrent report, interview and coaching method. Through the analysis, the users, we called the “disadvantaged minority of high-tech” had difficulty to learn and accept new experience (electronic products) because of their cognitive ability degeneration. Therefore they were only able to utilize physical and traditional knowledge and experience to reason and represent the machines' behavior. Unfortunately, the operations of mobile phone often occur “in the screen” (software), so they often can not reason and predict the usage correctly. For this reason, some logics we feel easy deservedly were actually strange to the “disadvantaged minority of high-tech”. The practical design work conducted according to the results of research through mental scenarios.
