碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 建築與都市計畫所 === 92 === The main purpose of this study was for the understanding the difference of leisure activities between the middle-age elders and the elders. This study used the 1996 and 1999 “Health and Living Status of the Elderly in Taiwan” data provided by the Bureau of Health Promotion, Department of Health. The elder population was divided into two groups: those who aged above 50 years old and those who aged more than 65. Several aspects were cross analyzed: backgrounds, types of leisure activity, and frequency of leisure participation. Descriptive statistics such as K-S test, chi-square test, T-test and One-way ANOVA were used to examine the database. Major findings include, 1.The most participation type of daily activity was “recreational activity”, followed by “sport activity” in both age groups. Participation types of daily activity changed due to time factor in the two age groups. Gender, religion, place of residence, economic level and occupation had significant effect on the participation types of daily activity in two age groups. 2. There were significant differences in the participation types of leisure activity between the middle age and the elder. Religion, place of residence, economic level and occupation had significant effect on the participation types of leisure activity in two age groups. 3. There were significant differences in frequency participation of “recreational activity”, “socialized activity”, “sporting activity”, “intellectual activity” and “useful activity” between the middle age and the elder. Frequency participation of “recreational activity”, “socialized activity” and “sport activity” changed due to the time factor in the middle age group. Generally speaking, the background variables influenced two age groups’ frequency of participation in “recreational activity”, “socialized activity”, “sporting activity”, “intellectual activity” and “useful activity” categories.
