Such construction not only has saved a great deal of usable space in our surroundings but also satisfied consumers' demands on diversification of styles. In this vein, collapsible construction are now deemed the guiding design principle for many objects. In this paper, the movement functions and varied styles of pleats and collapsible construction are transformed into fashion design. The purposes of this research are as follows:1. To reinterpret the garment construction, functionality, and appearance through application of pleats and collapsible construction. 2. To creat a fashion series from the overall design viewpoint by incorporating design diagram of collapsible construction and garment construction. This research comprises literature review and experiment creation. The former discusses the general application of pleats and collapsible construction on fashion and other design related fields to analyze the potential design development of incorporating pleats and collapsible construction and garmnet construction, the latter experiments the design potential defined previously on the basis of material and garment construction. Material experimentation focuses on usage of printing and dying techniques and screening of appropriate materials, while garment experimentation orients toward designing stylish and functional fashion clothing. In conclusion, research process and findings are summarized, and suggestion to future researches is proposed. Transformation of pleats and collapsible construction into calico printing, as well as creative thinking model that incorporates garment construction, not only has achieved breakthrough in practicability and style but aslo offer a new creative thinking perapective to future design researches. 碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 織品服裝學系 === 92 === Collapsible construction appear in static pleats also dynamic changes with free streching and contracting.
