Description
Summary:碩士 === 義守大學 === 資訊工程學系 === 92 === Recently, P2P networks are gaining popularity on the internet where millions of users share files using P2P networks everyday. However, not only is peer-to-peer suitable for file sharing, it is also capable of supporting multimedia communication such as streaming media delivery. A great deal of research efforts have focused on reducing bandwidth consumption and propagation delay as well as increasing the scalability of Video-on-Demand (VoD) service based on peer-to-peer concept. Fashioned after P2Cast, a peer-to-peer patching scheme for VoD service, a modified P2Cast tree construction algorithm is proposed in this thesis, which combines global and local information and makes use of network proximity of clients. Simulation shows that with modified P2Cast tree construction, more clients could join an application layer multicast tree and propagation delay are short than P2Cast.
