This study developed a mobile learning environment for a fifth grade science course. The system provides a supplementary learning environment which allows the teacher to put the teaching materials in the net and use the system to communicate with the students. Through SMILE (Supplementary mobile interactive learning environment) students not only will be able to find the extra learning materials but also be able to search data, and communicate with other team members. This study conducted a formative evaluation to exam the usefulness of this system. The purpose of the evaluation is to understand the interaction between team members and the satisfaction of the system. The result showed that this system can increase the interactions both in teaching and learning. Students show high satisfaction for the mobile learning system.
