The work of Industrial design is to use digital software and programs to design products. Moreover, by exerting ‘Augmented Reality’ to visualize the product and by exerting ‘Rapid Prototyping’ to offer texture, consumers can communicate with the designer before the product is manufactured and thus their opinions and feedback can be included in the process of the product development. The purpose of the research was to exert Augmented Reality to construct the KES, applying such a system to an investigation of consumers’ feelings about appearances of cell-phones. Four databases were adopted to set up the KES, including (1) 228 pairs of adjectives as the Kansei-word database, (2) 440 cell phone pictures as the image database, (3) 9 design elements and 26 design categories as the model database, and (4) 10 pairs of adjectives and 20 design elements and images as the knowledge database. This research discussed the Augmented Reality of KES, focusing on and explaining the relationship or rules between design elements corresponding to a specific adjective and their images conveyed to the consumers. In addition, the research probed and compared the experimental environment of Virtual Reality with that of Augmented Reality, and according to the result of the T-test, there was no significant difference between the two environments in consumers’ feelings about cell phone designs. Therefore, the KES proposed in the way of Augmented Reality is a workable interface for the subjects to examine and experience cell phone designs. In designing cell phones, Augmented Reality is superior to Virtual Reality in the concepts of intuition and operation. On the contrary, Augmented Reality is inferior in presenting colors because of the limits of existing hardware. Chien-Hsu Chen 陳建旭 2004 學位論文 ; thesis 164 zh-TW
