The study’s objects include newspapers such as People’s Livelihood News, which specializes in sports reporting, and general newspapers such as China Times, United Daily News, and Liberty Times. In this study, the method of “Content Analysis” has been applied to analyze the reports about the national field days from the above four newspapers during those three years. The conclusions are as below: 1.People’s Livelihood News, which specializes in athletic news, has 1.3 to 1.6 times as many reports measure as the three other newspapers. 2.Excluding People’s Livelihood News, there was a steady decreasing on the amounts of reports of the national field days by the other three newspapers between 1999 and 2003. 3.Of the above four newspapers, 38% had categorized the reports as “general news”, while 36% had added pictures. 4.Track and Swimming were the main focuses in their reports. 5.The ratio of the pictures of male athletes was higher than that of female athletes. 6.The ratio of dynamic pictures was higher than that of static pictures on those national field days.
