The research probes into the possibility and effectiveness of visual arts-centered curriculum and its practices to discover what role visual arts to be and meanings to teachers and students under the background of education system reform in Taiwan. The researcher who used the action researching of“Teacher is a researcher”to be the main research methods implement designed visual arts integration curriculum two circles as processed, adjusted and processed by document investigation and content analysis during two years and discussing the educational phenomenon and meaning during the teaching process and reflects the students learning results and performances by the method of content analysis. Based on this study the teacher who is the researcher propounds the possibility of the cooperation and support between educational theories and practices by her actual teaching process and feedback, dedicate herself to develop through inter-connection of the concepts of educational theories and practices for an ideal combination. And its found that integrated curriculum that places visual arts at the center could be more active and attractive to students and encourages students to develop the define values of diversity and understanding in their communities and life. Multicultural, community-based curriculum could inspire students caring and identifying with their environment and community culture. Multicultural and community-based integrated curriculum inspires students caring and identifying with their environment and community culture, and integrates the other disciplines effectively and enhances overall teaching effects to the curriculum objectives, basic abilities and key issues of education system reform in Taiwan. According to the research result of this study, conclusions are proposed as follows: 1. Visual arts-centered curriculum integrates effectively and enhances teaching effects 2.Successful execution of TETAC project integrated curriculum models in Taiwan 3.Deep influence from the curriculum contents to students:concerning and identifying with themselves, the local community environment and culture 4. Inspiration from the curriculum models to arts curriculum of elementary school:Breaking the myth of teaching materials and art-making of traditional art curriculum 5. Inspiration from the curriculum design to teachers:active and flexibility to arts curriculum 6.Inspiration from the curriculum design to teachers:diversities in the contents of arts curriculum 7.Combination of educational theories and practices Several suggestions which based on the research results and conclusions are proposed as follows : 1.Suggestions of flexible adjustments and future developments to this research 2.Arts teachers should improve professional competence at all times to achieve the goal of professional and independence 3.The design of arts curriculum and teaching materials writing should practice on curriculum experiment 4.Establishing long-term cooperation system for educational theories and practices units Ann C.S.
