Summary: | 碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 資訊管理研究所 === 92 === With the development of network and multimedia technologies, the applications of streaming transmission are getting more various. However, there are several problems to be solved. These problems are related to users’
waiting time and the presentation quality. Buffer allocation is one of the techniques to reduce waiting time and to improve presentation quality. But how to allocate adequate buffer remains another issue. The key point is to
present buffer underflow and overflow. On the other hand, the uncertainty of network transmission is another issue to improve presentation quality. The goal of this thesis is to conquer network uncertainty with proper buffer allocation in order to provide higher presentation quality. In this thesis, we will propose a feedback-adaptive transmission
mechanism for multimedia streaming. We will develop a prototype system based on the mechanism. With the system, we will have some performance analysis of the proposed mechanism to observe the relationships of several parameters. Besides, we will have the performance analysis in the IPv6 environment, because IPv6 will be the standard of the next generation of the internet.
