This study deals with the value of cooperative learning in elementary curriculum and instruction, the application of cooperative learning in visual arts teaching, designing and implementing teaching activities in visual arts, and hence examining the process and the influences on the students after teaching, to propose recommendation for the further instruction. This Study adopts the method of action research Through the real teaching research the researcher try to realize the influence of teaching process on students for the further research including literature review, involving 7 month teaching research. The subjects are the middle graders who are the researcher’s students. After recording the teaching process and collecting the students’ learning results, the study undertakes qualitative and quantitative analysis. The main findings are as following: 1. The importance of the cooperative learning in elementary education is recognized, because it can cause the effectiveness of teaching. 2. It is appropriate to adopt cooperative learning strategies in elementary art curriculum. This makes great contribution to child development and art teaching. Therefore, it is feasible to apply cooperative learning in elementary visual art teaching. 3. In applying the cooperative learning to the visual art teaching, the basic rules are the following: setting the teaching plan, grouping the students and arranging the roles, and guiding the skill of cooperative learning. In the teaching stage, the process includes to build the concept of completed cooperative group for brain storming, creation, presentation, citation, feedback, and reflection. The final stage is to reflect on the designing and implementing of teaching. 4. The application of cooperative learning in elementary has positive influence on the student’s learning willingness, attitudes, motivation, abilities, and the teacher-student interaction. In the end, according to the result, this research explicates the findings and difficulties, as well as provides expect ions and directions for further research.
