Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 國民教育研究所 === 92 === The Study on the Relationship between The Principals’ Leadership Styles and The Teachers'' Job Involvement in the Elementary Schools in the Pingtung Country Tong- Shying Chen THE NCYU Graduate Institute of Elementary and Secondary Education Abstract This study is to explore the relationship between the principals’ leadership styles and the teachers'' job involvement in the elementary schools in the Pingtung Country. There are three main purposes of this research: (1) To analyze the differences about the principals’ leadership styles presently. (2) To make an investigation about the differences of teachers’ job involvement presently. (3) To analyze teachers’ perception about the principals’ leadership styles and to find out the leadership styles toward teachers. The main instruments used in this study are the questionnaire of principal’s leading behavior and the gauge of elementary school teacher’s job involvement. The samples in this study are divided in layers of conception with 776 teachers, including the head teachers, the tutors and subject teachers in elementary schools. The 724 teachers’ questionnaires are retrieved and 692 of them are available for using in this study. The rate of recovery is up to 93.29%. The tools of this investigation are: “The Questionnaires of Principals’ Leadership Behaviors ” and “ The Gauge of Teachers’ Job Involvement in Elementary Schools”. Statistics methods such as Average, Standard Deviation, T-test, One-way ANOVA, and Person’s Production-Moment Correlation are used as well. The main conclusions of this research are presented as below: Ⅰ. The teachers’ consciousness of principals’ leadership styles in elementary schools is between the degree of “ often” and the “always “; the average score among them shows “consideration- leadership style” is higher than apparently “initiating structure- leadership style”. There are no distinct differences of teachers’ consciousness of principals’ leadership style between different educational backgrounds; but there are distinct differences because of the sex, marital status, post, age, service seniority, and the different school areas. Ⅱ. The present elementary school teacher''s job involvement is between “ accord with partly ” and “accord with totally” with the degree; among them it is relatively low with the score of the aspect of '' job preparation ''. Ⅲ. Invest the situation of teachers’ working devotion to have differences of showing because the sex, marital status, post and service seniority; but there are no distinct differences in different educational areas or education backgrounds. IⅤ. There are distinct interrelations between “high-initiation and high consider- ration” of principals’ leadership style and job involvement; and ” low- initiation and high-consideration” of leadership style and teacher''s job involvement have apparent to shoulder relevantly; but it does not show interrelations relevantly between “high- initiation and low-consideration” of leadership style and teacher''s job involvement. According to those conclusions, the study suggested some implication of educational practices and further studies as well.
