Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 資訊工程學系 === 92 === Mobile devices have become more and more popular recently. In addition, the mobile devices also need high-speed and reliable networks to support various applications. Various wireless networks support the mobility of the devices. A wireless environment provider can not only raise the bandwidth; it needs to manage its routing methods and handoff scheme. The aim for the wireless environment provider is to improve the latency of handoff and save more bandwidth. IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) 802.11[1], a WLAN standard, makes the wireless networks popular. Mobile IP is an important component which can make mobile node access the Internet. Handoff is a mechanism for a mobile node to change the access network easily. Fast handoff helps mobile node doing the handoff more efficiently. HMIPv6 is another method, which uses a dedicated machine called MAP (Mobility Anchor Point) to help mobile node to handoff smoothly. In telecommunication system, handoff is centralized. MSC is a dedicated server to take care of all the cell phones in its area. In this thesis, we propose a new fast handoff routing method, called fast handoff using prerouting. It routes the packet to the destination before the mobile node finish its handoff. It can also save the tunnel bandwidth during route update for CN. We also propose a special agent that is attached to the access routers and border routers. It combines the benefits of cellular system and data communication system. The agent will attach to an access router as a MSC in cellular system and it takes care of mobile nodes in its wireless LAN. Simulation results demonstrate its efficiency compared to previous schemes.
