Methods: A total of 110 schizophrenic patients completed a face-to-face structuralized questionnaire interview. Data collected for what variables were studied by descriptions and multiple regressive analysis. Results: The day-ward schizophrenic male patients were more than female. The age of onset was about 20 to 24 years old. The drug compliance of patients was more regular than irregular. The effect factor of positive and negative symptoms was drug compliance. The severity of negative symptoms was greater than the severity of positive symptoms, and the severity of positive symptoms were mild but still resident. Some coping strategies we found to effectively controlling the psychotic symptoms were such as watching TV, listening to music, talking to others, blessing or thinking of Buddha to transfer attentions. The day-ward patients of schizophrenia used emotional focused coping strategies more than problem focused coping strategies. Conclusion: This research could help patients with psychotic symptoms assess and manage effectively, and help them cope with the symptoms including the auditory hallucinations and delusions. Key words: schizophrenia, psychotic symptoms, coping strategies Kuei-ru Chou 周桂如 2004 學位論文 ; thesis 89 zh-TW
