description 碩士 === 國立新竹教育大學 === 美勞教育學系碩士班 === 92 === Based on the presumptions that art education is capable of enriching people’s mentality, developing a nation’s creativity and therefore promoting a country ’s competitiveness, we know that even a rural elementary school should play a role in art education. So, in this study the aim is to focus on how a rural elementary school can play its role as to enrich the field of Art & Humanity by applying an appropriate model of curriculum design & practice, including pedagogical approach, curriculum design, teaching methods, and assessments. Hopefully, the outcome of this study will prove to be a good reference for the development of curriculum in a mini and rural elementary school. The study was held in Kaikuang Elementary, Gung-guan, Miao-li. The subjects were all pupils in their fourth grade in 2002 school year. During the period between August 2002 and July 2003, three methods were applied: analysis of historical materials, qualitative study, and triangle checking system. The process of this study started from the analyzing on historical materials and the theoretical basis were formed for the concepts of program design & practice, methods for teaching, device for assessments. Then, the study advanced to the stage of designing, such as the designing of teaching activities, that of the learning assessments, and that of related questionnaires. Later, the interviews, dialogues, photos, recordings, and record keepings collected data.. The files of students about learning and the files of teachers about teaching were established, inclusive of perspectives from students, parents, and teachers of Kai-kuang Elementary School. When the above files were in hand, the study started to evaluate the programs, the teachings and the learnings, primarily via qualitative analysis and partially assisted by quantitative analysis and triangle checking system. This study converts the indicators of proficiency into the objectives of teaching regarding of the second stage in the field of Arts & Humanities. Therefore, based on these objectives of teaching there are eight units of teaching designed as follows: The Beauty of Kai-kuang, The Legend about Cheng-huang Temple, The Story of the Tiya Tribes, Happy New Year, The Magician in Light and Shadow, The Artists in Life, Mr. Wu in My Mind, and Best Wishes to Your Future. The end of each unit provides a learning feedback for assessment. When all the units were finished, the results were inducted, analyzed, examined, and reflected. At length, the final results are as follows: 1. The learning units designed in the field of Art & Humanity worked well in the promoting of art education level and in the broadening of art learning sphere. 2. The subject teachers’ coordinative teaching are able to bring down to earth the unity of program via variable teaching methods and multiple assessments. 3. The teachers are the keys to the success of program design & practice when they are able to design programs to stimulate and fulfill pupils’ motives to learn, supposing that sufficient time, technology, and information are provided. 4. The program design & practice in the field of Art & Humanity is appreciated among pupils, supported among parents, and acknowledged among teachers. However, we still come up against the following suggestions in light of the program design & practice in the field of Art & Humanity when a rural elementary school is concerned: 1. It is necessary to apply the model of school-oriented program development in the designing of programs via brainstorming and coordinating among the subject teachers. 2. It is beneficial to the program design & practice when teachers make good use of software and hardware of information and media and involve varieties of societal resource. 3. It will be very urgent for teachers to play the roles of researchers so as to advance themselves in the field of their specializations. Regarding of the above results of the study and the related suggestions, the future study will need more subjects and researchers so as to broaden the sphere of study and therefore a wider range of information can be ready for amendment.
