In addition, through this study, we would understand what the government could do to help the retired teachers. Using the qualitative method, the data had been collected and analysized via the interviewing the seven retired teachers. Four major findings of this study were listed as follows: 1. Three major objectives in the retired teachers’ career development:the society serving, life’s style changing, interesting cultivating. 2. Six patterns in the retired teachers’ career development:leisure and friends making, work after retirement, volunteer work service, further education pursuing, taking care of grandchildren, religious belief. 3. The factors affecting the retired teachers’ career development comprised two aspects: environmental factors on individual and organization. (1) The individual environment factor include:family, religion, health, experience, interest, and peculiarity. (2) The organitional environment factor was the service chances that school and government provide for retired teachers. 4. The assistance of government included:association of public employees, volunteer work education, and retirement symposium. However, the effort on information must be more positive and more thorough. According to the findings of the research, we can conclude that: 1. Retired teachers planned career developments by their life-oriented objectives. 2. Retired teachers developed their beneficial resources to adapt the changes of retired life. 3. The study suggested the government should provide the career consultative channels and give immediate feedback. 4.
