Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立屏東科技大學 === 食品科學系 === 92 === Abstract Quality characteristics of the drinking water related with water sources, treatment facilities, rural locations as well as level of 42 schools in the Ping-Tung County were investigated. The drinking water qualities were also applied sensory evaluation method to compare different water sources. The school level above high school in city used city water more than underground water for drinking purpose, while the level below middle high school in the rural area used surface water. Most of the school in the Ping-Tung County used the same water source for over 15 years. The surface water normally boiled before providing to their students. The R.O. system is a commonly equipment for those school using city or underground water. Drinking fountain or boiled water unit is widely installed in those schools above high school level. For those schools under high school level, pipe-line stretched across campus. Most of the school regularly maintained their drinking water facility once a month. In the rural area, the middle high and elementary school could carry such a task every 3 or 6 months. The budget for varied school ranged from NT 20,000 to 100,000. Provost mostly assigned one specialist to maintain their drinking water facility. Insufficient power and budget are the problem needing immediately attention. The preference for surface water is over city or underground water. Within their choice, the waters in the Ping-Tung County are free of off-note. The boiler stone is the most troublesome. Water sources, except city water, caused turbidity of drinking water sampled from the middle high and elementary school higher than government regulation, 2.1±0.3 NTU. The analytical data showed no violation in general, and free of heavy metal contamination. Keywords: schools, drinking water facilities, quality
