Hence, the design and manufacture of LGP plays an important role in the optical performances of backlight modules as well as the key technology and major production costs. It is critical to reduce the production costs via simplifying the module structure by making use of single-module design. In addition, the applications of etching, electroforming, and precision cutting on precision injection molds for transferring the micro-features on the LGP will directly influence the dimensional, reproducible, and optical properties of the production processes. The objectives of this thesis is to investigate the effects of cooling time, mold temperature, barrel temperature, injection rates, injection pressure, packing pressure, packing switching, and packing time, on the final qualities via both experimental verifications and quality measurements. In addition, the relationship between the qualities and processing parameters was assessed based upon Taguchi Quality Engineering Method. In conclusions, experimental results have shown that long cooling time can reduce the LGP warpage together with low barrel temperature and high packing pressure would increase LGP luminance. The melt temperature and mold temperature are most critical to uniformity of transmittance. Moreover, replication height of micro-features has been dominated by the same factors.
