Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 資訊教育研究所碩士班 === 92 === The study constructs a 3D virtual learning world and provides communication interface with avatars in the world. The goal of the study is to investigate the impact of approaches of user profile presentation with avatars on interpersonal interaction behavior of learners. An empirical research is conducted. The independent variable is the approaches of user profile presentation which either is “click presented” or “collide presented”. As to the dependent variable, the study is concerned about the interpersonal interaction behavior such as frequency of posting message, frequency of viewing other avatars’ profile, frequency of viewing self profile and frequency of editing self profile. There were 66 elementary school students involved in the experimental study. The data is collected with the learning activity tracking mechanism and a questionnaire. Statistic methods such as the frequency distribution, percentage and z test are applied to conduct data analysis. The issues of effects of different approaches of user profile presentation on interpersonal interaction behavior and feedbacks provided by subjects regarding the deployment of 3D virtual world are explored. The results of the study reveal that: 1. Users hold positive attitudes toward the 3D virtual world and the application of avatar. 2. Under the “collide presented” approach of user profile presentation, the frequency of interpersonal interaction is higher than in “click presented” approach significantly. 3. Users acknowledge that the quality of the 3D virtual learning world and the functionalities of avatar are needed to be enhanced in areas such as having more vividly avatar in terms of character design, avatar equipped with voice technologies, customized interface of avatar, more virtual scenes and 3D objects in the world, more information contained in user profile, and integration of curriculum with the virtual learning world. There are several suggestions for further studies in the end of thesis based on experiences and results of this study.
