碩士 === 國立臺灣海洋大學 === 導航與通訊系 === 92 === Abstract With the popularization of mobile communications in recent years, besides the quality of voice service, value-added services supplied by operators are also important indexes of the market. Therefore, mobile locating and Location-Based Service (LBS) have become the popular subject of research. The purpose of this thesis is to design and implement a mobile information application system based on mobile location and map transfer. This system utilize the Location Server of the cellular mobile communication system, and use the wireless communication and Internet as the medium for information exchange to provide users with the maps around them. This system consists of three parts, namely Mobile Equipment、Map Service Center and Gateway Mobile Location Center. Java MIDP’s cell-phone is chosen as the target mobile equipment for its popularity in current market and its support for over-the-air (OTA) program updating. As for the interface with the gateway mobile location center, this system follows the mobile location protocol (MLP) developed by LIF(Location Interoperability Forum). In this thesis, the mobile map service is implemented with map database of Taiwan area as an example. The user can easily get the map of the area from the Map Service Center. Through WAP PUSH technology the system also provides the users to tell the users’ friends where the users location and let them download.
