This study supposes that the influences of social elements, including social strata, on health are more significant than personal behaviors. The different social strata due to the accessibility of different resources, such as education opportunity, occupation, and so on, contribute to different impacts on health. Besides, the gender may further cause the complicated inter-relationship between health and social factors (i.e., gender would affect the health of varied classes). This being the case, this study also focused the observation on health of male among different strata. This study found that there were difference in health behaviors and health conditions amidst a variety of social strata. Some strata indeed have better health. Senior high school and college education degrees hit good scores in the behavior of sport while the education degree of or under primary school did not have good health performance. The employees of expertise fields have better performance in the health behavior of sport than the ones of farming, fishing, and blue collar. In addition, the people in farming and fishing and the unemployed have inferior health condition. Moreover, having stratified the gender, we found that it’s easier for the male to quit the smoking and alcohol than the female. In addition to that, the health behaviors of male are more significantly affected by the education degree and occupation. It also implicated the difference in health performance among genders that the female who has additional diseases in neck and shoulder while the male who only suffers from chronic disease. On the other hand, there is no significant difference in sport behavior and health condition amidst genders of different occupation and education degree, because the health performance is due to the education degrees and occupations. This study then found the obscure relationship between health behavior and health performance either in the aggregate or having stratified the gender. Additionally, the education degree is related with smoking, and having stratified the gender, the education degree and occupation of male are related with sporting. The social stratum does not have strong influence on other health behavior and health condition. Therefore, there should be more interesting findings if the future researches can emphasize in a variety of social environment or other exterior factors. SEN, YOW-SUEN 沈幼蓀 2004 學位論文 ; thesis 66 zh-TW
