Thus, the development of children’s literature in Penghu as a matter of course is totally different with that of Taiwan under the special regional characteristic. However, for a long time the circumstance of the development of children’s literature in Penghu lacks systematical regulation, analysis, and study, which finally result in unclear developing presentation from beginning to end. Researchers hope the study of this essay is able to introduce the development of children’s literature in Penghu and to construct unique features for each stage of the development. This essay studies children’s literary works that published by Penghu Island and related literary activities from 1975 to now. There are seven chapters in this essay. Chapter one is the introduction of study motivation and purpose, document discussion, research method, conduct procedure, research range, and limitation. Chapter two is a brief introduction to Penghu’s geography, humanities, and literature development. Besides, this chapter also constructs and staging children’s literature in Penghu. Chapter three, four, and five are the analysis of the development, developing features, target events, personage, and characteristics of literary works for each stage. Chapter six is the analysis of positive and negative factors that influence the development of children’s literature in Penghu, also points out the developing direction afterward. Chapter seven is the conclusion and comment of this essay. This research found that the main activity in 70’s for development of children’s literature in Penghu is to popularize children’s poetry. During this stage, works of children’s poetry are full of description of penghu’s natural scenery and local geography; During the stage of 80’s and middle of 90’s, under the guidance of the bureau of education and every elementary schools’ active cooperation, the target event aims at the publishing of “Collection of children’s literary works in Penghu”; After 1997, the development of children’s literature in Penghu presents diverse developing tendency. The content of artistic works for each literary style also involves marine culture and local feature that exclusively owned by Penghu.
