The plot of the novel moves by the characters actions and the theme of the novel displays through the characters’ development. The author should describe vivid characters to perform splendid plots, display the theme of the novel, and reveal the effects of the arts of the novel. The research picks out 18 writings that won the prize , 『Jiu Ge modern children literature award』, as samples to explore how the techniques would be used in juvenile novels. There are six chapters in the research. The first chapter, 「preface」, states the background, purpose, documents, methods ,steps, scope and limit, etc., of the research. The second chapter,「characters of the novel」,states about the importance of characters and types of characters, and sorts out the techniques and principles of the characters. The third chapter, 「outer describing」, includes portrait describing, dialogues and actions. The fourth chapter, 「inner describing」, explores inner describing of characters from mentality of characters, inner monologue, setting off mentality of characters by scenery, interacting events by scenes and contrasts and setting off of characters. The fifth chapter, 「plot describing」, from the whole structure：beginning, development , highlight, and ending , of the process of personality changing , explores the effects on characters by plots. The sixth chapter,「conclusion」, induces what would be found by the previous three chapters, offering suggesting to juvenile novels in Taiwan.
