Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣大學 === 資訊工程學研究所 === 92 === Next-generation wireless environment is proposed to consist of different types of wireless networks, each providing various date rates and coverage. The terminal mobile device is equipped with several wireless interfaces to support accessing heterogeneous wireless networks. The mobile user can switch between different wireless networks while keeping ongoing data communications. Mobile IP (Internet Protocol) mechanisms is an important issue that allows users to keep the same IP address, stay connected, and maintain ongoing applications while roaming between IP networks. For instance, Mobile IP provides IP mobility for the roaming between WCDMA and WLAN networks. However, this approach requires installing mobile IP devices such as home agents and foreign agents in both networks, and terminal devices should also implement mobile IP features. Since the user device requires sending the registration back to its home network. The purpose of this thesis is to implement a heterogeneous wireless network system which integrated the Mobile Stream Control Transport Protocol (SCTP) with Mobile IP, providing the seamless handover procedure and mobility management. We show the design of the integrated wireless network architecture and mechanism, and then discuss our combining protocol with the detailed diagram flow. Finally, we implement our system to network simulator, NS-2.
