In open building, among the major environmental levels: (urban) tissue, (architectural) support and (Interior) infill, the most frequent change of use is at infill level. To meet these changes for continuous customization, the approach of products design instead of space design is believed a more practical way to the problems at infill level. Therefore, we need to establish a logical products design process(design model)and collect more technological information(design manual), in order to find better ways to design infill products. This study focuses on the products design of open building components on infill level, provides a logical products design process(design model)and the design technological information(design manual)of movable partition construction methods. Some design principles of movable partition, generalized by the products design technological information are included.The main objective of this research is to develop movable partition system prototypes by using local infill elements and technology to implement open building concepts. This research employ the following research methods to complete the objective: collecting the product catalogs, status quo investigation, literature review, establishing the design and development model of construction methods, and performance qualitative analysis. This research has achieved the following works: 1.Status quo investigation:This research investigated the product catalogs, construction methods, performance, and prices of existing local movable partition systems. The information collected can be further used to define the boundary conditions for the movable partition system to be designed. 2.development of design manual:This research collected literature related to movable partition products, technology, codes, and standards, and developed a design manual for interior movable partition systems. 3.establishment of the design model:This research referred to the theory of CBD(Case-base design)and the method of VDI 2221 to establish a design and development model for movable partitions. 4.application of the design model:This research developed three prototypes of movable partition systems for office buildings or campus buildings, within the 1000~2000NTD/m2 price limit. “Open mind, then open building”, the mind of participation open to the public is the fundamental spirit of the open building. All what we have done is to deepen the participation of the design and development for movable partitions.
