The choice of the French painter Balthus and his work as well as of the French philosopher Henri Bergson as a framework of analysis in the thesis is made for example because the latter’s approach of intuition is useful both to the appreciation of art and as a stimulus in the viewer’s pursuit of knowledge. By so doing the viewer can further understand the differences among artist and their creations thereby heightening the aesthetic judgment on the part of the viewer.
