Description
Summary:碩士 === 東吳大學 === 中國文學系 === 92 === The Study of Feng Zhi’s “ The Collection of Sonnet” Conspectus Feng Zhi stands as one of the most famous modern poets in China. The magnificent poetry of his has been divided into three stages as he had created them. The first stage has characterized by the essence of romanticism, such as “Song of yesterday” and “Collection of Tour Northward And Other Poems”. The philosophical “The Collection of Sonnet” emblematizes the second stage as it defines how the poet sees the truth of life and the intellection of origins. The poetry of the third stage is more likely to be made of time and reality. The most significant works of this stage are “The Collection of Western Countryside” and “Ten Years Collection Of Poems”. Among all of his work, “The Collection of Sonnet” of the second stage, accomplished the proficiency of both the sense and the sensibility, and reached its maturity in every matter, such as the format, subject, and artistic presentation. Moreover, “The Collection of Sonnet” has been referred to as the “mid-life of the modern poetry”, according to Mr. Chu Zhi Chin. Evidently, “The Collection of Sonnet” not only represents Feng Zhi’s apex of his career, but also poses as the pillar of the development of Chinese sonnet. In other words, “Sonnet” has become the milestone of Chinese history of poetry. This disquisition was particularly to discuss Feng Zhi’s “ The Collection of Sonnet”. “The Collection of Sonnet”, the foreign poet form, with its strict regulations, collects 27 sonnets. It indeed was a whole new experiment to China. Feng Zhi, studying abroad to German, incorporated both the western bone and the Chinese vines, and created his masterwork. In prolegomenon, the disquisition describes the life of Feng Zhi, and discusses how the poet blended the east and the west. Raised in traditional China, educated with western literacy, Mr. Feng Zhi created the inspiring work, “The Collection of Sonnet”. The second chapter “the transition of the collection of sonnet” examines the traditions of the western sonnet; based upon it, the paper reviews the development of sonnet in China. “Feng Zhi’s subjects of the collection of sonnet”, the third chapter, enters the world of “the Collection of Sonnet” in depth. Leaving behind the subjects that the Collection of Sonnet has brought out in its 27 sonnets, the poet portrayed his experienced life. With his simple and modest language, Feng Zhi delivered his contemplation, his conception, and his praise of the past. Also, the chapter compared and distinguished other sonnets to and from the ones in “The Collection of Sonnets”. In the forth chapter, “Feng Zhi’s rhythm of the Collection of Sonnet”, dissects the paragraph, rhythm, and line in each sonnet. “The Collection of Sonnet” has followed the rules of “Petrarchan Sonnet” in the order of paragraph; harmonized the beauties of “Petrarchan Sonnet” and “ Shakespearean Sonnet” in the order of rhythm;distinguished itself in lines and became the flexible and unique Chinese Sonnet. “Feng Zhi’s oratory of the Collection of Sonnet” as the chapter five introduces how Mr. Feng mastered his operation at Chinese words. Although the language of his is simple and modest, it is never boring or dry. He took trope, replication, antithesis...etc., as his tools successfully to express his artistic presentation. Feng Zhi’s “The Collection of Sonnet” has broadened the view for Chinese modern poetry; witnessed the transition of Sonnet coming from the west to China, and has succeed and blossomed fruitfully.
