The reverse reaction will occur by heat or light with different wavelength ; They find potential in MEMS applications and optoelectronic materials . This research is to synthesize a new type of azobenzene . The photoactive monolayer film was prepared by immersion of a spin-coated film of pAA on a PET plate to a solution of azobenzene in hexane . The surface density of Az-pAA was tuned by the co-adsorption with C18A (Octadecylamine) to give L-B films (Az/C18A-pAA films) . Arrangement of the azobenzene under Non-polarized UV light is studied . The three dimension orientation is studied by polarized ATR (Attenuated Total Reflection ) . On the other hands ,the azobenzene is chemically bonded to the polyimide film.
