Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 電機工程系碩士班 === 92 === The desire for large bandwidth increases with time recently. And the services which require large bandwidth, such as Movie on Demand (MOD) and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), are also acceptable by consumers gradually. Pivotal problem of access network site — First Mile Problem still exists. Optical fiber transmission which has high capacity, large coverage area, multicast and broadcast capabilities, and ease of upgrade, is the most ascendant technology among various solutions. Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) is constituted by Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM), with data encapsulated in Ethernet frames. But the lack of bandwidth allocation and guarantee will be the fatal problem of EPON. We propose a dynamic allocation with bandwidth guaranteed (DABG) algorithm which based on fix slot time and dynamic repartition surplus bandwidth to support bandwidth guaranteed for every Optical Network Unit (ONU). We then analyze the performance under varying offered loads to verify average packet delay, bandwidth satisfaction, and queue size utilization.
